PAYDAY LENDING

FORECLOSURE LEGISLATION

Foreclosure For Sale Sign Image In 2014, lawmakers in 31 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico have introduced legislation regarding foreclosures. The list contains legislation regarding regulating foreclosure consultants and distressed property purchasers, amending the foreclosure process to address concerns regarding so-called robo-signing and protecting tenants' rights who are renting homes facing foreclosure.

PAYDAY LENDING STATUTES

Thirty-eight states have specific statutes that allow for payday lending. Arizona and North Carolina allowed pre-existing payday lending statutes to sunset. Arkansas repealed its pre-existing statute in 2011.
