An exciting program will provide a strong overview on issues sure to affect the future of redistricting. Topics include elections in the courts, primary systems and combining race and ethnicity in Census Bureau reporting.

OVERVIEW | REDISTRICTING

Redistricting is the process of redrawing state legislative and congressional district boundaries every 10 years by state legislatures following the decennial U.S. Census. NCSL helps prepare legislatures and others for the redistricting cycle with comprehensive information on redistricting law, technology and process. NCSL collects data and information on new legislative and congressional districts.

TASK FORCE

NCSL’s Redistricting and Elections Task Force, a project of NCSL’s Executive Committee, focuses on redistricting, election law and campaign finance regulation.  The task force sets the agenda for NCSL staff who work in these areas, and provides educational opportunities for legislators and legislative staff through meetings, webinars and field trips.
