Health Reform: State Legislation and Actions

gavel and American flag

NCSL has just updated its latest compilation of state legislative actions related to the Affordable Care Act. The online database provides one-click access to almost 1,030 bills and resolutions filed or pending across the 50 states and D.C. Legislation can be sorted by state and by topics including Exchanges, Medicaid, Outreach, Insurance Reforms, Authorization & Funding or Challenges, Opt-outs & Alternatives.  With status revised as of Apr. 21, at least 97 measures have been signed or adopted.

State governments already have made many decisions about the Affordable Care Act and are responding to federal implementation deadlines.  NCSL has numerous resources — reports, briefs, legislative tracking and summaries, multimedia and meeting sessions — all aimed at helping state legislatures and policymakers learn about state actions and options.
