Dr. Donald Shell

Dr. Donald Shell has worked in the field of public health for nearly 20 years at both the state and local level. He is the director of the Cancer and Chronic Disease Bureau, and the acting director of the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control in the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Shell is board certified in family medicine, and completed his fellowship training in primary care sports medicine and adult fitness. Shell’s work to improve and protect the health of people and populations is based on the premise that socioeconomic foundations, societal regulations, policies, laws, and awareness of cultural biases must be incorporated into programmatic planning, funding, and implementation.
