Legislative Staff Week 2024 | May 6-10

Thank You, Legislative Staff!

Every day, you and your colleagues work behind the scenes to support the work of state legislatures. From drafting bills to making statehouses accessible to the public to keeping computer networks secure, legislatures couldn’t function without you. During the week of May 6-10, NCSL celebrates your contributions and considers the importance of both gratitude and recognition in the legislative environment.

Please join us! Here’s how you can participate:

  • Watch an NCSL Town Hall at 1 p.m. ET Monday with NCSL Staff Chair Sabrina Lewellen
  • Check out a special-edition podcast and resources created with you in mind.
  • Register for a webinar about creating a culture of connection at work.
  • Share a photo or post on social media to show how you’re honoring your colleagues.
  • Say thank you to a fellow legislative staffer!

Praise and Prizes!

Give a shoutout or two in recognition of a colleague’s or team’s resilience, leadership, innovation or exceptional commitment to the legislature. You’ll both be entered into a daily drawing. Prizes include free registrations for NCSL Base Camp and NCSL swag bags. And for the state receiving the most shoutouts? Dessert’s on us! NCSL will host an ice cream party for all legislative staff.

Watch the Webinar: ‘Using Creativity: Don’t Just Survive, Thrive!’

Many of us yearn to be creative but lack the courage to dive in. An artist with a background in business, Tricia Rose Burt has worked with Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders, blending her experiences and galvanizing audiences to step into their creative selves—so they can reinvent, adapt and develop new solutions both at home and at work. And just in time, too. Studies show the older we get, the more fixed our mindsets become. We grow less expansive and our worlds get smaller. The solution? Take more risks!

On May 8, we’ll use Burt’s “No Time to Be Timid” manifesto as a powerful framework to awaken our creativity and boldness. We’ll explore ways we can start to think differently and more expansively. Participants will leave entertained, inspired and armed with guidelines on how to step off the expected path and create rich personal and professional experiences.
