State officers: Secretary of state transmits results to the House of Delegates, which canvasses and certifies results during its next regular session. A copy is also transmitted to the governor, who immediately tabulates the results and causes them to be printed in a newspaper. (3-6-11)
Presidential electors, members of Congress: After receiving results from county commissioners within 30 days after the election, the governor ascertains who is elected and makes a proclamation thereof. (3-6-11)

The county canvassing board shall meet at a time and place designated by the county clerk, but no later than the first Friday following the election. The state canvassing board shall meet no later than the second Wednesday following the election to review the state abstracts prepared by the secretary of state, compare them with the tabulation and materials prepared by the secretary of state, resolve any tie votes, and certify the abstract as the official state canvass.
