With an increase in maternal mortality rates in recent years, maternal health in the U.S. continues to be a focus for state lawmakers seeking to create better health outcomes for mothers and infants. Efforts include policies to improve and better understand infant and maternal mortality, increase access to maternal mental health supports, and address pregnancy risks.
