Hometown: Nashville, Tenn.

Role: Director of Legislative Information Systems, Tennessee General Assembly

Years of legislative service: 10

The best advice he’s ever received: “We must aspire to leave things better than we found them!”

Why did you choose to work at the legislature?

Working at the Legislature allows me and my team to create products and services for our members and staff, so they can effectively and efficiently serve our constituents. We have a strong sense of commitment to serving the public, a desire to provide quality products and services for our members and staff and to be good stewards of the taxpayers’ dollars.

What skill or talent are you most proud of?

I’ve worked for various companies in different capacities. The collective experiences has allowed me to learn about organizations, identify problems and offer solutions in the most economically feasible way.

Who or what inspires you?

My grandfather is my source of inspiration for teaching me to live a simple life and give it back to the community.

What’s one thing you love about your state?

We have the best of all worlds: beautiful mountains to the east, great music and food from middle to west, and all four seasons offering a little bit of something for everyone!

What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?

I am reading “Man’s Search for Meaning,” by Viktor E. Frankl.

This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
