“‘Don’t let anyone tell you what your worth is.’ I have struggled quite a bit with imposter syndrome and feeling like I don’t deserve the opportunities I am given. When those thoughts creep in, I try to remember these words.”
Why did you choose to work at the legislature?
I’m not sure if I chose it, or if the legislature simply got a hold of me and now I cannot let it go. Whatever may be the reason, I am grateful to have found my way here. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and with no shortage of opportunities to increase my knowledge of history, politics and communication, you could say I am a student of the legislature. It is an honor for me to be a part of our legislative process, no matter how small a role I may play. I witness history being made in real time and I find that fascinating. No two days are ever the same in our work, and while that unpredictability may make some people uneasy, I personally thrive in a little bit of chaos.
What skill or talent are you most proud of?
My ability to build relationships. I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and continuously strive to create connections with everyone I come across. Every person has a story to tell, and I am always eager to hear it.
Who or what inspires you?
My father is my inspiration, my role model and my No. 1 supporter. He taught me what love and sacrifice meant and showed me the value of hard work and determination. He always pushes me to be the best version of myself, and I strive every day to make him proud.
What’s one thing you love about your state?
It’s unequivocally beautiful. You have the ocean on the west, the high desert to the east and mountains all around. If you love nature, Oregon is idyllic.
What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?
With a toddler running around, I don’t have a lot of time to sit down and watch many things, so podcasts have been my go-to. Don’t judge me too hard, but 90% of the podcasts I listen to are related to true crime!
