“No day is the same at the Legislature—and who wouldn’t like a place where you never know what to expect?”

Why did you choose to work at the Legislature?

I was an intern at the Legislature when I was law school, and I loved my experience. When the opportunity came up to come back to the Legislature, I jumped at the chance to come back to such a dynamic and ever-changing environment. No day is the same at the Legislature—and who wouldn’t like a place where you never know what to expect? I look forward to coming to work and I hold the title of public servant proudly.

What skill or talent are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my ability to bring humor to most situations. We’re often in a high-stress environment and humor can make it all bearable. I love getting people to laugh amid the craziness.

What’s the best advice you were ever given?

Be yourself. It sounds completely generic, but when you are authentic with people, you’ll earn their trust. Connecting with people, having empathy and seeing others’ perspectives is really what brings people together and I strive to make people feel welcome.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by my faith. I feel called to be in public service, and that drives me to make sure that I lead and act with integrity.

What’s one thing you love about your state?

The desert is beautiful! We have amazing sunsets, unique landscapes and weather to envy most of the year.

What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?

I am currently making my way through a long list of fiction books that have been recommended to me, most recently “The Midnight Library” and “The Winter Garden.” I am currently watching the latest season of “Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles”—I can always get sucked into reality TV!
