“Sometimes people just need to vent; try not to take it personal.”

Johnathan Harris Kentucky

Why did you choose to work at the Legislature?

Michael Blankenship, a good friend of mine, started working here after we graduated from college. I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go, so I continued work on a master’s degree. After I graduated again, and he had tested the waters, I applied. When I first started, I was only looking for a place to apply my skills. I have stuck around for the people and the shared mission of service to the people of the commonwealth.

What skill or talent are you most proud of?

Adaptability and teamwork. I am in awe of the ability of the legislative staff in Kentucky to shift and work together to deal with some of the unique situations that come up.

What’s the best advice you were ever given?

Sometimes people just need to vent; try not to take it personal.

Who or what inspires you?

The people I work with.

What’s one thing you love about your state or territory?

Hills and the smell of sour mash coming from the bourbon distilleries.

What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?

Getting ready for the movie “Dune: Part Two,” so I am rereading the book.
