Why did you choose to work at the Legislature?
As a court librarian, I relied on the amazing library staff at the Maryland Department of Legislative Services for over a decade. When an opening came up for a librarian, I jumped at the chance to join the team. I have not regretted the move.
What skill or talent are you most proud of?
Librarians often get calls from disgruntled people. They may ask a question I have answered a dozen times, but I try to remember it is their first time asking it. I am proud of my ability to listen, let them know their issues are not trivial, and provide them answers or resources whenever possible.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
“Keep your options open”—my mom.
Who or what inspires you?
Anyone who fails and tries again, in short, people with courage and a mission.
What’s one thing you love about your state?
The diversity of the people, the landscape, and the weather––it is great to have four seasons.
What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?
I am currently making my way through the Three Pines mystery series by Louise Penny. In fact, I am taking a vacation to Quebec’s Eastern Townships, where many of the books are set in the autumn.
