Why did you choose to work at the legislature?
I found the position to be very intriguing. It’s fascinating to watch the legislative process unfold. My passion is to help people, and if my ability to help legislators and staff understand the applications and tools that we provide, then that’s a win in my book!
What skill or talent are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my ability to empathize and be the neutral party, the peacekeeper.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
“Don’t take it personally.” It helps to remember that the other person has a different frame of reference than I might. I also don’t have the need to make someone agree with me. If we can discuss the different viewpoints and walk away without bad feelings, then that’s a good conversation!
Who or what inspires you?
I’m inspired by my cousin, who is a genuinely nice person. She has followed her passions and created an entrepreneurial environment in which she formed several companies. In addition, she teaches, encourages and cares for others.
What’s one thing you love about your state?
I love camping in Colorado. It’s so beautiful—the mountains, the lakes—and I love the small towns and the bigger cities. It’s all so wonderful.
What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?
I’m currently watching a sappy Christmas movie every night, either on Prime, Hulu or Netflix! Outside of the holidays, I’m obsessed with home-improvement shows. My latest binge is “Bargain Mansions.” My husband and I just bought our first house together and it needs a lot of work. I get such great ideas from these shows.
