“My family has always been a source of inspiration. I am also inspired by the older and younger generations and seeing what they choose to represent.”

Why did you choose to work at the Legislature?
I grew up watching "Schoolhouse Rock!" It was very easy for me to comprehend interjections and adjectives, but when it came to the song about the bill, I was left puzzled. When I began attending school, I asked my teachers to learn about bills, but they told me it wasn't a part of the curriculum. Over time, I only enjoyed reading books on government, laws and the legislative process. Eventually, this drive guided my career, so I obtained my bachelor's and master's degrees to better align myself in the legislative profession.
The decision to work for the North Dakota Legislative Assembly results from perfect timing. I was at a point in my career where I was ready to take on the legislative challenge, and North Dakota has the values that I want to see reflected in our country.
What skill or talent are you most proud of?
I am proud of my desire to continue to learn and grow.
What's the best advice you were ever given?
My mother always tells me that the adversities I experience in life prepare me for God's purpose for me. So, I should always seek wisdom in the hardships of life.
Who or what inspires you?
My family has always been a source of inspiration. I am also inspired by the older and younger generations and seeing what they choose to represent.
What’s one thing you love about your state or territory?
The great state of North Dakota is like the Wild West, and with the last name "Outlaw," I appreciate it! The Badlands are filled with wild horses, buffalo, history and endless sunsets. Powwow season in Bismarck decorates your coffee trips with vibrant colors, feathers and smiling faces. Yes, North Dakota is a modern state, but its traditional American values and sense of community are what I love the most.
What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?
I always find myself turning to the Bible when I'm in the mood to read. Music-wise, rock 'n' roll, always.
