“As I have gotten older, I realize that trusting myself is key to success both in my career and personal life.”
Why did you choose to work at the Legislature?
I started working at the House of Representatives as an intern before I graduated from college. I was lucky enough to be offered a full-time position when my internship was over, and I happily accepted. It is an honor to be able to continue to be a part of the legislative process in Georgia.
What skill or talent are you most proud of?
I am very proud of my cooking and baking abilities. My mother started teaching me to cook when I was very young. I loved it so much that I was convinced it would become my career until I fell in love with the political world.
What’s the best advice you were ever given?
“Trust your instincts.” I can have a bad habit of second-guessing myself, but as I have gotten older, I realize that trusting myself is key to success both in my career and personal life.
Who or what inspires you?
My father is a huge inspiration to me. He immigrated to this country with nothing but a dream. Everything he has now is a direct product of his hard work. He taught me never to let anything deter me from my dreams and that I can achieve anything I want as long as I am willing to work for it.
What’s one thing you love about your state?
As a lifelong Georgian, narrowing down just one thing I love about this state is difficult. I believe Georgians themselves are what I love most about Georgia. The kindness I have been blessed to experience from my neighbors, teachers and friends as I have lived in this wonderful state has impacted me the most. There is a willingness to help and meet people from all walks of life with kindness that makes Georgians, and therefore Georgia, a very special place to live.
What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?
Music is always my go-to form of entertainment. Recently, “Dream” by OMEGA X has been playing on repeat. It is a beautiful song about perseverance and having faith that your dreams will come true, even if the path to achieve them is difficult.
