Why did you choose to work at the Legislature?

I’ve always been intrigued by the complexities of lawmaking and governance. When I was growing up, my family often discussed current events and legislative issues, which sparked my curiosity and desire to be involved in shaping policy.

What skill or talent are you most proud of?

While I may not identify a specific skill or talent I’m most proud of, I’m particularly gratified by the progress I’ve made during my short time working at the Legislature. I’ve embraced the challenges and opportunities presented in this environment, continuously learning and adapting to contribute effectively to the legislative process. My growth demonstrates my dedication and willingness to develop professionally, which I find fulfilling and rewarding.

What’s the best advice you were ever given?

“If there is one thing in life that someone can’t take away it’s your education.” This insight highlights the persistent value of knowledge and learning, emphasizing the importance that comes from education. It reminds me to prioritize self-improvement and intellectual growth, as these are assets that no one can diminish or take from me. This advice inspires me to continually seek knowledge and education as a means of personal and professional enrichment.

Who or what inspires you?

I find inspiration from numerous sources, including my young team and their remarkable growth here at the Legislature. I have witnessed their development and dedication, which motivates me to mentor and support them to the best of my ability. Additionally, my mother and grandmother inspire me with their resilience, wisdom and unwavering support. Their strength and guidance have shaped my values and steered me to strive for excellence in all aspects of my life.

What’s one thing you love about your state or territory?

One thing I love about Guam, which will always be home for me, is its people. The warmth and hospitality of the island community create a welcoming atmosphere that embraces everyone, regardless of where they’re from. Whether you’re a longtime resident or a visitor, Guam’s inclusive spirit ensures that you feel a sense of belonging and hospitality that’s truly unique to the island.

What are you currently reading/listening to/watching?

Currently, I’m focused on my master’s degree coursework, which keeps me occupied in educational texts and materials relevant to my field of study. In terms of music, I’ve been enjoying “At My Worst,” by Pink Sweat$ and Kehlani, finding comfort and inspiration in its melody and lyrics. However, I recognize the importance of getting back into reading for personal growth and knowledge, so I’m motivated to carve out time to explore new books and expand my horizons beyond academia.
