State legislators and staffers who are military veterans will be saluted at the 2023 Legislative Summit in Indianapolis in August.

According to NCSL’s one-of-a-kind tracking, more than 900 state legislators are military veterans, current reservists or members of the National Guard.

For 45 years, the NCSL Legislative Summit and summer were linked together. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and everything changed. There was no in-person Summit in 2020. And in 2021, the Summit was moved to the fall.
