Physician relationship required for practice and prescriptive authority.
NMs must have a written collaborative agreement with a physician. The agreement must specify the procedures requiring the physician's presence when performed. The physical presence of a physician is not required at all times and methods of communication must be available for consultation between the NP and physician. U.S. Virgin Islands Code tit. 27 §101a
NMs may prescribe drugs, devices and Schedules IV-V controlled substances to the extent established by the Virgin Islands Board of Nurse Licensure. A NM's prescription orders must be periodically reviewed by the collaborating physician. U.S. Virgin Islands Code tit. 27 §101a
