On Election Day, millions of voters in 41 states and three territories will decide the fate of over 150 ballot measures. The topics include everything from abortion to taxes to how elections are run. These ballot measures come in three variations: a referral from the legislature; an initiative placed on the ballot by citizen petition; or a popular referendum where citizens petition to approve or repeal an act of the legislature. Some measures were voted on already this year in primaries or special elections, and Louisiana will vote on its measures in December, but the vast majority will be decided on Nov. 5, along with 5,808 legislative races and much more. Track them at NCSL’s State Election page. Today’s Map Monday shows the number of ballot measures voters will see in each state this November.
