NCSL's Redistricting Law 2000 book was published in 1999. Like the other editions (1980, 1990 and 2010), this resource summarized the extensive legal framework that governs the process of redistricting. It was intended as a practical guide to the law for those who were directly involved with drawing new maps or in analyzing or litigating district plans.
Until now, this resource has been available only as a paper copy which has been long out of print. Here, it is made available for historians or others as a pdf.
For those seeking current information on redistricting, please see NCSL's Redistricting Law 2010. A fifth edition, Redistricting Law 2020, will be published in September 2019.
