Sen. Moore represents NCSL at Parliamentary Conference of the Americas
Sen. Richard T. Moore, Immediate Past President of NCSL was welcomed to the Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Conference of the Americas (COPA) by the Honorable Jacquest Chagnon, President of COPA and President of the Quebec National Assembly. The Executive Committee Meeting was held in the Council Room of the National Assembly of Quebec in Quebec City, Canada from September 6-9, 2011. During the Conference, Sen. Moore met with delegations from various countries, including former Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Sanchez, a 1997 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, who was the keynote speaker for COPA’s opening plenary.
During the general session of the Assembly considering adoption of resolutions on such matters as reducing school drop outs, promoting economic development and jobs, opposing money laundering and gun trafficking, and respect for the human rights of migrants.
