Meeting Purpose

This meeting brought together the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Environmental Management (EM) Legislative Roundtable and High-Level Waste Working Group for a special Legislative Forum on Nuclear Waste Cleanup. The Forum brought together legislators from across the country who play a role in the cleanup of the nation's nuclear weapon legacy, host nuclear facilities, or are affected by the transportation of nuclear materials. Participants had the opportunity to learn about pressing commercial and defense nuclear waste management issues, gather updates from the Department of Energy (DOE), and share information with one another.
