NCSL Webinars allow attendees to participate in meetings taking place around the world from the comfort of their desk. They are collaborative, interactive and easy to use.
Most webinars will be recorded for those who are unable to attend the live meeting.
States enacting private school choice policies like school vouchers and tuition tax credits are likely to face a prolonged legal fight. This is often because many states have long-standing Constitutional provisions that ban the use of public money to support religious institutions, sometimes specifically citing religious schools. This webinar features legislative staff from around the country who discuss the legal challenges that school voucher and tuition tax credit programs have faced in both their own state and federal courts.
- Josh Cunningham, policy specialist, Education Program, NCSL
- Anne Sappenfield, senior staff attorney, Legislative Council, Wisconsin
- Allen Morford, attorney, Legislative Services Agency, Indiana
- Julie Pelegrin, deputy director, Legislative Legal Services, Colorado
This webinar is sponsored by the Legislative Education Staff Network (LESN) and the Legal Services Staff Section (LSSS) and is supported by the Walton Family Foundation.
This program was designed to qualify for continuing legal education (CLE) credits in most states that have mandatory CLE. NCSL did not pre-apply for CLE. Those who want to view the presentation and submit it for CLE credit in their state may self-apply using a Uniform Application for CLE. However, final acceptance of CLE hours is the prerogative of your state’s CLE authority. The Colorado Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas have pre-approved this webinar for 1-hour of CLE credit.
