Each year, NCSL brings together chairs of state education committees and subcommittees covering both K-12 and higher education to network and discuss pressing education issues legislatures are facing across the country. Each meeting allows experienced legislators to deeply explore a small number of of policy areas to sharpen their expertise. This meeting will focus on:
- Protecting student data privacy
- Ensuring all students are college and career ready
- Preparing, supporting and evaluating teachers in the new policy climate
- Accountability in public, private and virtual school choice
- Empowering parents in school choice
Registration is free
Travel, housing and meal expenses will be reimbursed by NCSL for the first 40 invited legislators who attend.
The meeting is open only to education committee chairs. Invitations from NCSL are non-transferrable without consent of leadership in your chamber

Each attendee is responsible for making his or her hotel and travel arrangements.
If arranging hotel accommodations by phone, please indicate that you are attending the NCSL conference to receive the negotiated rate per night.
Please book your air travel through NCSL’s agent, Christophersen Travel. You can reach the NCSL travel desk at 800-825-3283. Please indicate that you have registered for the Education Committee Chairs Meeting and need to book travel.
All travel should be booked no later than May 16, and your travel will be directly billed to NCSL. Please remember that your ticket is non-refundable at NCSL’s expense, so please do not make reservations until you are certain that you will be able to attend the meeting.
