Some state actions are a response to the federal Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) provisions of the federal Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. However, numerous other enactments represent state innovation on how to best manage sex offender populations and address sex offenses. This database identifies key state legislation enacted going back to 2008.
