Covering the Election? Turn to NCSL

NCSL election analysts are your source for state election and ballot measure results

DENVER – When voters go to the polls on Tuesday, they are deciding who will make public policy decisions that directly affect their communities. Voters will be casting ballots in 44 states for men and women running for 6,034 state legislative seats up for election. In 38 states they will be deciding on 172 ballot questions – including 42 citizen initiatives.

The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) is your most comprehensive source on election night. Just hours after the polls close across the country and until the early morning hours of Wednesday, NCSL's experts will have an analysis of party control, the ballot issues that passed or failed, and trends in the states. 

Here is where you can find the latest NCSL news and results on election night: 

NCSL Election Battleground Headquarters - Election night headquarters will be at NCSL's office in Denver. To interview our election experts, call  303- 856-1631  from 6:00 p.m. MST Tuesday until 9 a.m. MST Wednesday. StateVote 2012 - The official NCSL election night website. StateVote contains the most detailed analysis on the 46 legislative elections and 172  ballot measures. Throughout election night, NCSL analysts will update this page with the latest results from across the nation.

The Thicket at State Legislatures Magazine - NCSL's elections experts will post periodic updates on our blog for state legislative contests.  NCSL's blog Prop*50, will cover ballot measures that are taking center stage in many states.

Social Media - Our elections team will use Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to send up-to-the-minute news on election night.
