NCSL Statement on Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program


Group Commends President for Action on Drones

NCSL press release Washington, D.C.—The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) issued the following statement after President Donald Trump issued a presidential memorandum establishing an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program:

"We commend President Donald Trump for taking this first step toward establishing this necessary role for states so that our country can begin to realize the full suite of benefits Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones) can provide. With more work to be done, we look forward to continuing our policy discussions with both federal regulators and members of Congress surrounding the authority to implement reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions guidelines so that states are able to ensure the protection of public safety and security, personal privacy, property rights and land use management."
