Denver – Of the 7,383 total legislative seats throughout the states, 3,820 are Republican and 3,436 are Democrat while Republicans maintain 59 legislative chambers and Democrats hold 39. Nebraska has a nonpartisan, unicameral legislature. 

The updated interactive resource page from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), “State Partisan Composition,” showcases the current makeup in four categories, including chamber control, legislative control, state control, and legislature plus governor control.
