Legislators and Legislative Staff Will Join 10th Annual Fitness Event
SEATTLE—More than 150 state legislators and staff will promote fitness and healthy living by participating in a 5K fun run/walk in Seattle as part of the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Legislative Summit, Aug. 3-6.
The Walk for Wellness begins at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Myrtle Edwards Park.
This is the 10th annual NCSL Walk for Wellness. The event was started by a coalition of legislative caucuses to offer an opportunity for exercise during a long week of meetings. It is designed to raise awareness of the adverse effects of heart disease, diabetes and obesity.
NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.
