Evans; Vice President and Montana Senate Majority Whip Barry Usher; and President Emeritus and Rhode Island Speaker Pro Tempore Brian Patrick Kennedy issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Senate's overwhelming 99-1 vote to remove the proposed moratorium on state artificial intelligence legislation from the reconciliation bill.
"We applaud the Senate's extraordinary 99-1 vote to strip the AI moratorium from the reconciliation bill. This action sends a strong message that states will stay on the front lines in safely advancing AI innovations while protecting our constituents. We thank the Senate for listening to NCSL's call to strip this provision."
