2023 NCSL Legislative Summit Coming to Indianapolis

The Summit is the nation’s largest bipartisan gathering of state lawmakers and legislative staff.

DENVER — Over 100 in-depth educational sessions including artificial intelligence, infrastructure, workforce development, the economy, policing, Supreme Court actions and elections will be featured at the National Conference of State Legislatures' (NCSL) annual Legislative Summit, Aug. 14-16 at the Indiana Convention Center.

More than 5,000 attendees hailing from every state make the NCSL Legislative Summit the largest gathering of state lawmakers and legislative staff in the country. The Legislative Summit provides a platform for legislators, staff and other public policy professionals to learn from experts, as well as each other, about solutions to the country’s most pressing state issues.  

Attendees at the 48th annual Legislative Summit will hear from a variety of speakers, including:  

  • Tamika Catchings, author, and former WNBA great
  • Indiana Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch 
  • Nancy Giordano, author, and strategic futurist
  • Rahul Gupta, director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy
  • Mina Starsiak Hawk, home renovation expert and star of the HGTV hit series, “Good Bones” 
  • Cedric King, author and retired master sergeant  
  • Rebecka Peterson, 2023 National Teacher of the Year
  • Blake Resnick, CEO/founder of BRINC Drones
  • Julieanna Richardson, president, and founder of The History Makers
  • Loretta H. Rush, chief justice of the Indiana Supreme Court
  • Charlie Sungho Shin, vice president of analytics and digital innovation for the Indianapolis Colts
  • Jen Welter, “Coach Jen,” first woman to coach in the NFL

Reflective of its national membership, NCSL’s Legislative Summit is held in a different city each year. This year’s Summit is projected to generate more than $4.8 million in economic activity in Indianapolis and take up more than 11,000 room nights.    

All meetings held in conjunction with NCSL’s Legislative Summit are open to the press. Registration is required, but free to credentialed members of the media and limited to no more than two passes per requesting entity. Online registration is open; on-site registration for media is available between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center. Please review NCSL’s media policy before registering.  


NCSL is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states, commonwealths and territories. It provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues and is an effective and respected advocate for the interests of the states in the American federal system.
