85% of State Legislative Seats Up for Grabs in 2022

Washington, D.C. – Voters in 46 states will go to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, to determine the outcome of 6,279 legislative races. Of the nation’s 7,386 legislators, 3,978 are Republican and 3,266 are Democrats. Republicans maintain 61 legislative chambers while Democrats hold 37. Nebraska has a nonpartisan, unicameral Legislature.  

Much is at play in the states this year and the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) State Elections 2022 has the most comprehensive state election analysis you’ll find before and after the election. Additionally, NCSL will have coverage and analysis of the numerous ballot measures across the country.
