Microsoft Deal Propels Three Mile Island Restart, With Key Permits Still Needed 

Constellation Energy and Microsoft have signed a deal that would see the restart of a unit within the Three Mile Nuclear Power Plant to power Microsoft’s AI data centers. Constellation plans to spend $1.6 billion to revive the plant, although the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has stated they have not received an application yet.

Georgia Power has selected four locations in Georgia for 500 MW of new battery energy storage. The sites are currently being planned out and under development and each will consist of a four-hour duration battery energy storage system.

US Clean Energy Jobs Grew 4.2% in 2023

According to the Department of Energy the clean energy job sector increased by 142,000 jobs last year, doubling the employment growth rate of the broader U.S. economy. Solar showed the largest gains, followed by wind, transmission, distribution and storage.

U.S. DOE Announces $90 Million in Funding

The Department of Energy has announced $90 million for states, cities, and tribes to implement updated energy codes. The money will be distributed among 25 projects in multiple states to help residential and commercial buildings lower energy costs and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
