Agriculture and Energy Policy Directives Overview

The Agriculture and Energy Committee has thirteen remaining policies to review before they expire at the 2012 Legislative Summit. The committee will attempt to consolidate twelve of these policies into three new policy directives as outline below. The committee will also move to renew one policy as a stand-alone resolution.
Energy Security Policy Directive: A new policy directive that focuses on the state-federal relationship regarding policies that will ensure a secure, stable and reliable energy future for the United States. It will attempt to consolidate and streamline policy language covered in the following three existing policies under the jurisdiction of the NCSL Agriculture and Energy Committee.
Environmental Management Policy Directive: A new joint policy directive with the Environment Committee on the state-federal relationship for the regulation and management radioactive waste and the clean-up of federal facilities impacted by improperly managed hazardous, radioactive, and mixed waste and materials. It will attempt to consolidate and streamline policy language covered in the following two existing policies under the joint jurisdiction of the NCSL Agriculture & Energy Committee and the NCSL Environment Committee.
National Energy Policy Directive: A new policy directive that focuses on the state-federal relationship for the funding, regulation, and research on national energy policy issues. It will attempt to consolidate and streamline policy language covered in the following seven existing policies under the jurisdiction of the NCSL Agriculture and Energy Committee.
DOD Matching Funds-Federal Conservation Program Policy Resolution: A current policy scheduled to sunset at the 2012 Legislative Summit that addresses land management issues around Department of Defense installations and the interaction between programs at USDA and the Department of Defense.
