Legislative Leadership: the Art, the Politics, the Challenge
February 16-18, 2011
*This meeting is for Senate Presidents, Senate Pro Tems, House Speakers, House Speaker Pro Tems, majority and minority leaders for the 2011 session.
Join President Barack Obama at the White House with legislative leaders from across the nation for a frank and open discussion of the new Washington agenda and what it means for the states. Whether your concern is federal aid to the states, deficit reduction, health care implementation or any other topic, this is your special opportunity to discuss it with the President of the United States at this exclusive meeting for legislative leaders. You will also meet with congressional leaders who will be negotiating priorities in the 112th Congress.
This year's edition of NCSL's Legislative Leadership: the Art, the Politics, the Challenge offers a unique opportunity for legislative leaders to reflect on these challenges, have give-and-take discussions with some of America's most thoughtful and respected opinion leaders and, to meet in an intimate setting with leaders of the new Congress and administration officials. We are very pleased that political commentator Charlie Cook and former Shell CEO John Hofmeister have agreed to participate in the program. In addition we have developed two special programs on Friday afternoon focused on leadership and communications skills.
