Symposium for Emerging Leaders

WaltonsThe Symposium for Emerging Leaders curriculum is designed to inspire great ideas. Legislators who show outstanding leadership promise and the ability to affect change are nominated to participate in this respected and established leadership development program. Nominees are strongly committed to the legislative institution and demonstrate the potential to hold a legislative leadership position in the future.

Each emerging leader will receive: 

  • Two complimentary nights at the 21c Bentonville Hotel. 
  • Meals while at the symposium.
  • Free registration to this exclusive event.

The Symposium for Emerging Leaders is a partnership between the NCSL Leaders' Services Center, the NCSL Foundation for State Legislatures and our corporate partner, Walmart.

Spouse/Guest Registration fee: $150
Due to the in-depth material of the meeting, we do not encourage guests to attend. If you bring a guest, guests are only allowed at the social evening events and a fee of $150 will apply. You will be invoiced for the balance due upon completion of registration.

Please return  the electronic registration and housing form to guarantee your hotel reservations by Sept. 1. After that date, our room rate of $249/night (excluding tax) cannot be guaranteed. NCSL will provide two complimentary nights hotel stay (Oct. 8 and 9) at the conference rate.

Reservations for dates outside of the conference nights will be accepted based on availability. The conference rate cannot be guaranteed for dates prior to or after the meeting, and the market rate may apply.

Travel Information

Travel InformationBentonville is served by the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, roughly a 20-minute ride from downtown Bentonville.  Because this is a regional airport, we strongly recommend you make flight arrangements as early as possible.

As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, Bentonville has something for everyone! Bentonville has amazing museums, such as Crystal Bridges and the 21c Hotel Museum, both of which you will experience, plus the Museum of Native American History. A lovely town square awaits you in the center of Bentonville for evening strolls. Last, you will enjoy the home of Walmart with a visit to the very first store and a provactive "Saturday Morning Meeting" at the current headquarters.
