South Carolina Security Summit ♦ March 25-26, 2011 ♦ Columbia, South Carolina
The state of South Carolina has planned a Security Summit in Columbia, SC on March 25-26, 2011 to discuss the recent acts of political violence that have occurred in Arizona and Maryland. Senate Sergeant at Arms Jim Melton, House Sergeant at Arms Mitch Doorman, and Chief Zackary Wise have invited a broad group of stakeholders throughout the state including SC Law Enforcement Division experts and members of the SC Department of Public Safety. South Carolina State Legislative leaders, the governor and the state's chief justice have also been invited to address the group.
Jim has also sought and received sponsorship from the National Legislative Services and Security Association (NLSSA) and is encouraging legislators and legislative staff from around the country to participate in the conference. The first day of the summit will be spent reviewing the recent events that have occurred. The second day will be spent developing a written security plan to offer state legislatures providing specific recommendations.

Each attendee is responsible for making his or her hotel and travel arrangements.
When arranging hotel accommodations, please indicate that you are attending the South Carolina Security Meeting to receive the negotiated rate of $80 per night (excluding tax).
Breakfast is included with hotel room rate and lunch will be served at the meeting room. A hospitality room with food will also be available in the evenings.
The cut-off date for the negotiated rate is March 11, 2008. Please try and make your reservation before then.

Columbia is served by the Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Reservations must be made at least seven days in advance, but make arrangements early for the best rates.
