The public sector, legislatures included, has faced intense criticism and scarce resources for many years now. There are techniques available to public employees to not only cope with these challenges but to thrive. This webinar explores various ways in which legislative staff can expand their capacity and practice self-care in challenging times. The key is to transform our mindset from one that is in “survival mode” to one that seeks ways to be helpful and solution oriented.

A photo of Patrick EdgarPatrick Edgar received his B.A. in history/political science and master of public administration degrees from the University of Montana, a master of divinity degree from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, Calif., and his doctor of public administration from the University of Southern California. He has worked for a variety of agencies including the Department of the Navy, the Veterans Administration, and Dawson Community College in eastern Montana. Edgar also taught at the University of Montana. He operated his own consulting firm for more than 20 years, providing services to state agencies and local governments throughout the Northwest. Edgar was most recently the director of the Master of Public Administration program and an associate professor at Southern Arkansas University.
