2014 LRL Professional Development Seminar

Louisiana State CapitolTthe LRL 2014 Professional Development Seminar was held Oct. 1-3, 2014, with most sessions taking place at the unique Louisiana State Capitol. The seminar offered legislative and state government librarians the opportunity to exchange information and ideas, renew professional contacts, and share expert knowledge and abilities.


Registration Information Registration fees are:

  • Early bird (through Sept. 5): $350
  • Post early bird rate for legislative staff: $375
  • Louisiana host state discount: $295
  • Spouse/guest: $150
  • All others: $450

Spouse/Guest Registration. The $150 guest fee includes admission to all scheduled meal functions and evening social events.

Cancellations received in the NCSL Denver office by Sept. 29 will be refunded, minus a $50 processing fee. Cancellations must be made in writing and faxed to 303-364-7811. Fees cannot be refunded for registrations cancelled after the conference begins.

  • Register Online
    Requires a credit card for everyone except legislators and legislative staff. Confirmations will be sent by email. Deadline to register online is Sept. 26.
  • By Fax
    Fax your registration form to 303-364-7811 by Sept. 26.
  • Onsite Registration
    If you can't meet the Sept. 26 deadline, onsite registration will be available at the Hampton Inn beginning Tuesday, Sept. 30.

When arranging hotel accommodations, please indicate that you are attending the NCSL conference to receive the negotiated rate of $119 per night (plus tax).

Travel InformationBaton Rouge is served by the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport. The airport is located seven miles from the heart of downtown Baton Rouge and easily accessible from Interstate 110. The hotel does not provide shuttle service but there are several shuttle and cab services available at the airport.

General Information

The seminar is a relaxed learning experience. Business casual attire and comfortable shoes are recommended for all seminar programs and activities.

October temperatures in Baton Rouge are in the mid-80s, with low 60s at night. Evenings and meeting rooms may be cool, so be sure to pack a sweater or light jacket.
