The Research, Editorial, Legal and Committee Staff Association and the Legislative Research Librarians will hold a Joint Professional Development Seminar in Harrisburg, Penn., Oct. 4-6, 2018.
The LRL Professional Development Seminar brings together legislative librarians and information specialists from around the country. The 2018 seminar features sessions on important legislative issues, soft skills, best practices, opportunities for networking, and tours of local libraries and/or archives.
The RELACS Professional Development Seminar is an opportunity to bring together staff who are critical to the legislative process and provide training and networking for legislative employees who provide research, editing, legal services, committee staffing, bill drafting, code revision, administrative rules review and compilation, policy analysis, and constituent services.
This meeting offers sessions specifically designed for attorneys, editors, librarians, research and committee staff and it's a great opportunity to brush up on skills, learn something new, and network with peers.

Registration Fees Are:
Early Bird (Sept. 25): $375
Post early bird rate for legislative staff: $400

Two Ways to Register:
Requires a credit card for everyone except legislators and legislative staff. Confirmations will be sent by email. Deadline to register online is Sept. 25.
If you can't make the Sept. 25 registration cut-off, onsite registration will be available at Hilton Downtown Harrisburg beginning Oct. 3, 2018.
Spouse/Guest Registration. The $175 guest fee includes admission to all scheduled meal functions and evening social events.

Cancellations received in the NCSL Denver office by (Oct. 2), will be refunded minus a $50 processing fee. Cancellations must be made in writing and faxed to 303-364-7811. Fees cannot be refunded for registrations cancelled after the conference begins.

Harrisburg is served by the Harrisburg International Airport. Many major airlines serve the airport, including: Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southern Airways Express, United Airlines, and Frontier.
The Harrisburg International Airport offers taxi cabs, shuttle services and rental cars to arriving passengers. The Harrisburg Hilton does offer an airport shuttle service at $14/person each way. Please contact the hotel for information.

Harrisburg, the state capital of Pennsylvania, sits on the Susquehanna River. The top destination to visit for any Harrisburg trip is the state capitol and RELACS and LRL members will enjoy personalized tours and meetings there.
Other places to visit include: the National Civil War Museum; the Pennsylvania State Museum featuring ten permanent exhibits plus special exhibits; scenic Riverfront Park; Fort Hunter Mansion and Park.
If you are considering adding a couple of days to your trip, Harrisburg is within about an hour's drive of Hershey and Gettysburg.
