NLPES Listserv

Effective July 25, 2019, the NLPES Bylaws were changed. The change affects access the NLPES listserv. The NLPES listserv is now open only to NLPES members.

About the NLPES Listserv

NLPES offers an e-mail discussion group (listserv) for its members.  The listserv allows a message to be sent to all NLPES listserv subscribers simultaneously.  For example:

  • NLPES distributes announcements for its newsletter, professional development seminar and webinars via the listserv.

  • Audit offices use the listserv to announce their latest reports.

  • NLPES members use the listserv to gather basic information for their own research. E-mail interchanges tap states' research experience on evaluation topics as diverse as forestry studies and regulation of child care facilities to analyses of judicial system caseloads.

How to Sign-up for the NLPES Listserv

If you are interested in enrolling, follow the directions below.

  • Send an e-mail requesting to join the NLPES listserv to Brenda Erickson, the NCSL liaison to NLPES.

  • In the message’s subject area, type “SUBSCRIBE to NLPES Listserv.”

  • Please include the following contact information in your subscription request:

Your name
Job title
Audit agency/organization name
Mailing address
City, state, zipcode

E-mail address.

  • A "Welcome" message will be sent to you once you are successfully added to the listserv subscription list.

How to send a message on the NLPES Listserv

The e-mail address for the NLPES is nlpes-l@lists.ncsl.org

Please use this e-mail address to post your inquiries or announcements.

Please leave three blank lines at the beginning of your message to allow room for the listserv's automatic warning statement.

Please include a signature block that, at a minimum, contains this information:

Your name
Audit agency/organization name
Phone number
E-mail address

PLEASE NOTE, a new listserv procedure became effective May 2022.

Now, a NLPES listserv posting and any response to a posting will be distributed to all subscribers. (Previously, only the individual who posted the original listserv inquiry received responses to that posting.) So:

  • If you are posting a message to the NLPES listserv, please be sure to include an email address in your signature block to which a separate, private response to your inquiry may be sent.
  • If you wish to respond to a listserv posting but do not want your response to be seen by all listserv subscribers, do not “Reply” or “Reply All” to the listserv posting itself. Instead, please send a separate, private email addressed to the individual who posted the original inquiry.

"Netiquette" for the NLPES Listserv

When using the listserv, please remember the following:

  • Be professional. (Thanks to you, the NLPES listserv has been relatively free of "party line" banter.)

  • If you post an inquiry or announcement to the listserv, please include your name, e-mail address and telephone number in the body of the message just in case an NLPES colleague wants to contact you directly.

  • If you wish to reply to a listserv inquiry, determine whether you want to “reply” to the listserv posting or contact the person directly.

  • Please do not try to send attachments via the NLPES listserv.  The listserv is not configured to support them.
