2009 Governmental Professional Development Conference
On October 14-16, 2009, the Hawaii Chapters of the Association of Government Accountants and the American Society of Military Comptrollers jointly sponsored the 2009 Governmental Professional Development Conference. Bruce E. Sullivan, retired after over 30 years with the U.S. Department of Defense and now with Visa Inc., provides details on how identity thieves obtain personal information and describes methods for reducing the potential for becoming an identity theft victim.
Arnold Laanui (Federal Bureau of Investigation) offers his perspective on identity theft. He also provides a threat assessment strategy to help recognize how identity thieves use open source information and explains how identity thieves obtain data from unsuspecting victims.
