Thank You, Legislative Staff!
Every day, you and your colleagues work behind the scenes to support the work of state legislatures. From drafting bills to keeping computer networks secure, legislatures couldn't function without you, especially in a year as challenging as the last. This week, we pause to celebrate your important contributions. Won't you join us?
Here’s how you can participate this week:
• Give a shoutout to a colleague who has gone above and beyond.
• Check out a special-edition podcast, blogs and articles created with you in mind
• Watch our webinar on the value of public service.
• Share a photo or post on social media of how you are getting creative with your work.
Recognize a colleague with a shoutout - and win!
Leadership, innovation, collaboration, unflagging good humor, support or exceptional commitment ... which of your colleagues come to mind? Give them a shoutout! And you'll be entered to win one of four free registrations to NCSL Base Camp 2021. Plus, the state with the most shoutouts will earn that much-coveted distinction and bragging rights. Connecticut and Delaware staff prevailed last year. Will either - or both - do so again?
Join the conversation
Join us for a conversation on Wednesday, May 5 with NCSL Staff Chair Martha Wigton, Georgia House Budget & Research Director and NCSL Vice Chair J.J. Gentry, Counsel for the South Carolina Senate. And end the week feeling inspired about your work in the legislature with a thought-provoking discussion about the value of public service. Ask questions or just listen in as Janice Lachance, formerly of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, Paul Danczyk of the Sol Price School of Public Policy, University of Southern California and former NCSL Staff Chair Michael Adams, director of human resources for the Senate of Virginia cover why public service matters, strategies for staying motivated and the importance of public sector leadership. Register now for this 3 p.m. ET webinar.
Special Edition: blogs and articles just for you
Starting May 2, listen to "Know Your Why," a special Legislative Staff Week podcast featuring two legislative staffers. Sabrina Lewellen, Deputy Director of the Arkansas Senate and Eric Nauman, Lead Fiscal Analyst for the Minnesota Senate share the reasons they joined the legislature, what motivates them, and why they stay. Plus, each day, we will unveil a new Legislative Staff Week feature, including profiles of your colleagues, an article on managing up and a look at how legislative offices are staying social while remaining apart.
