AMERICAN SOCIETY OF LEGISLATIVE CLERKS AND SECRETARIES
MEMORANDUM
DATE: July 1, 2013
TO: All ASLCS Members
FROM: Suzi Lowell
Chief Clerk, Alaska House of Representatives
ASLCS President-Elect
RE: ASLCS Committee Assignments for 2013-2014
This year’s annual Professional Development Seminar of the American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries (ASLCS)—and 70th anniversary celebration of ASLCS—will convene Oct. 9, 2013, in Sacramento, Calif. Each year prior to the annual Professional Development Seminar, ASLCS members have an opportunity to choose which standing committees they would like to serve on during the following year.
Most of the work of the American Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries is done by its standing committees. The committees are divided into three categories—A, B, and C—for scheduling purposes. For your information, you can view descriptions of the 12 standing committees here.
It is now time to make your committee selections for the 2013-2014 ASLCS year. Please complete the enclosed committee selection form and return it to me on or before Sept. 6, 2013, or use the online questionnaire, which can be accessed here. If you experience difficulties making your selections online, please contact Angela Andrews at 303-856-1349 or angela.andrews@ncsl.org. Even though you may not be able to travel in the upcoming year, please make committee selections so that you can remain involved with ASLCS. Committee chairs will be encouraged to communicate with all members of their committees in the decision-making process via email or phone contact.
I also would appreciate knowing if you are interested in serving as a committee chair or vice chair.
Please complete and return your committee selection form, either online, by mail or by fax, on or before Sept. 6, 2013. If you have any questions, please call me. My address, phone, fax and email are:
