Approval of Minutes

Upon a motion by Susan Kannarr, seconded by Polly Emerson, the minutes of the last meeting held April 16, 2011, during the ASLCS Spring Business Meeting held in Pittsburgh, PA. were approved.

New Business

The committee discussed the 2011 Professional Development Seminar (PDS) in Branson, MO. David Byerman confirmed that he would be on the panel to discuss social media - twitter in particular. Bonnie Alexander also volunteered to be on the panel. She also discussed the technology upgrades they did during the renovation of their Capitol and epublications. Crystaline Jones reminded the committee that some chambers block social media tool use. There was discussion by the committee that it would be interesting to know which chambers block social media tools and which ones embrace their use. Angela Andrews said she thought NCSL might have a listing with this information.

Old Business

Susan Kannarr mentioned the possibility of the Technology committee (or a designated committee) to list the pros and cons of changing process/systems.
Do you take on the whole change at one time (like they did in Kansas) or do you change it in increments? How does technology effect/influence the process from Bill drafting to publication.
Perhaps this could be a topic for next year's Technology session.

Upon a motion by Polly Emerson, seconded by Crystaline Jones, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Polly Emerson, TX, Recorder
