CALL TO ORDER

The meeting of the Site Selection Committee was called to order by Dave Avant (AL) Vice-Chair at 9:00AM 

ATTENDANCE

The following members of the committee were present: 

OLD BUSINESS

Dave Avant(AL) informed the committee that the previous Chairperson of Site Selection Norman Moore (AZ) had left legislative service. ASLCS President Greg Gray (WV) has appointed Michael J. Cote, Assistant Secretary of the Maine House of Representatives, as the Chairperson.   Dave Avant stated that Mr. Cote was unable to attend because of legislative responsibilities in Maine.  The committee was informed that sites of Milwaukee, WS, in 2010, and Branson, MO, for 2011, were already set.  Rob Marchant(WI) shared the plans for the Milwaukee meeting September 8-12, 2010, with the committee. 

NEW BUSINESS

Mr. Avant brought up the responsibility of the committee in finding a host site for the ASLCS Professional Development Seminar in 2012.   Then making a recommendation to the executive committee. There was a general discussion of the three types, hosted, no host, and a hybrid of the two. After a discussion of possible sites for 2012, the committee came to the conclusion that there needed to be a survey to find the interest in who might host the event.   A decision was made to send a survey to all principals to determine which states have an interest. Any state with an interest would be invited to make a presentation to the committee’s next meeting in Louisville. Mr. Avant said he would forward this to Chairperson Cote and help get the survey done as soon as possible.

Upon a motion by Jeff Finch(VA), seconded by Ann Cornwell(AK), the meeting was adjourned.
