Job Overview

The Idaho State Legislature is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Office of Performance Evaluations, Idaho's performance auditing office. The position serves the Legislature through the critical, independent review and assessment of state agency operations and management, concluding in the production of written evaluation reports.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee, this position:

  • Acts as the primary staff for the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee (JLOC) a bipartisan, bicameral legislative committee, and acts as the primary contact with the Legislature, the Office of the Governor, state agencies, media, and the public;
  • Recruits, selects, trains, and manages performance evaluation staff;
  • Oversees the evaluation and report production processes (including the design of research methodology, the research and analysis process, and report compilation and quality); and
  • Administers all aspects of the office: the agency's fiscal operations, including the preparation of the agency's appropriation request; human resources, including recruitment and retention; office policies and procedures; and outside contracts if necessary.

Qualifications

  • Required qualifications include a postgraduate degree in public administration, political science, business administration, or a related field, personnel management experience, and progressively responsible experience in conducting or managing government performance audits or evaluations.
  • Previous work for a legislative body is preferred, as are social science research skills and experience.
  • Candidate must be nonpartisan, have demonstrated leadership skills, and be able to provide a strong example to evaluated agencies.
