The Energy Staff Network brings together legislative staff to learn about and discuss the critical energy issues by providing training, education and opportunities for collaboration for legislative staff who work on energy issues. The goal of the network is to help staff develop their expertise in energy policy to better support their legislatures in addressing their states’ energy challenges.
This network may be of interest to staff in all states working on all facets of state energy policy, including energy security, reliability, affordability, transmission and distribution systems, grid modernization and resilience initiatives, workforce development, and more.
The network meets virtually on a quarterly basis and in person annually at NCSL’s Legislative Summit in August. These meetings provide legislative staff with an opportunity to further their understanding of trending energy topics while also connecting with staff from other states. The network’s listserv also allows staff members to share resources and pose questions on a regular basis.
The network is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Electricity, Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response and the Grid Deployment Office.
If you are interested in participating in the Energy Staff Network, please contact Alex McWard, NCSL’s staff lead for the Energy Staff Network.
