The organization provides comprehensive 50-state research and analysis on a wide variety of topics related to these issues. Additionally, NCSL's Redistricting and Elections Standing Committee works on issues that affect all states and hosts meetings of national interest.

Paperwork Requirements to Run for the State Legislature

Every state requires candidates for office to file paperwork notifying the state that the filer intends to run and is completing or has completed the necessary steps to have their name placed on the ballot. The paperwork also notifies the state campaign finance regulator that the new candidate will be submitting finance reports.
