FY 2021 State Budget Status

As of June 3, 32 states had enacted budgets for FY 2021. Sixteen of those states enacted a biennial budget during their 2019 legislative session. Due to impacts of COVID-19 on state fiscal circumstances, some states have adopted measures to prevent a shutdown if their budgets are not in place by the start of the new fiscal year. These include the adoption of base budgets and continuing resolutions.
